On Holy Saturday afternoon, at about 4:00PM, the spirit of Burt Barrenger entered into eternal life. Even though Burt wasn't feeling up to par the past few years, he never missed an opportunity to step up for our parish and take a position of authority for the good of the people of Immaculate Conception. He was one of two Parish Trustees, he chaired the Stewardship Team and the Core Team and was a key member of the Finance Committee amongst other ministries. Burt truly loved God and the people he ministered for.
Two things stand out the most for me about Burt. He had passion for anything he did and anyone he cared about. If you ever discussed football with Burt, you know what I am talking about. Any project Burt accepted was done with enthusiasm. He jumped in with two feet and gave it his formidable effort.
Secondly, he genuinely cared about people. Burt really enjoyed a good discussion. Even as he was bearing his own physical cross he would never fail to start a conversation, "How are YOU doing? How are things going for YOU? " We will miss Burt's spirit and the comfort he brought to those around him.
Please pray for peace for Sonia, Loren and Tyler and all who had the blessing and joy to know Burt. He will be missed.
